This Avon Ohio basement finishing project was completed in 2006. The basement project started with an unfinished basement in a new construction home. The home owner wanted the basement space to serve several uses including a common entertainment area with seating, bar and pool table. The basement finishing also included a home theater, exercise room and several rooms and closets for both finished and unfinished storage.
The results - we're very pleased and more importantly so is the Avon home owner. Walking through the basement finishing photos you can see the entertainment area with the seating and bar. We framed a niche set back in the wall twenty-four inches in order to provide an entertainment system storage that did not protrude into the room. The L-shaped seating area is situated between the entertainment systems and the bar. For the basement bar, this was a custom bar that featured woodworking and solid granite countertop. Around the basement bar we chose ceramic tile to stand up to the bar's traffic. Pendant lights above the bar provide the bar with task lighting and are equally attractive. The basement's common area was designed and finished to also make room for a pool table.
Just past the basement pool table photo you will see the framed archway. This archway was an important element for the home owner because it helped match the basement with the rest of the house. Looking past the archway, there are a series of doors which lead to storage, exercise room and the home theater room.
Home theaters are increasingly not only becoming popular basement finishing requests but considered essential by many Avon homeowners. This home theater was designed within a twenty two by fifteen foot room. It has two levels of seating and overhead projection and media closet. Controlling sound pollution was a priority and we used two layers of drywall, acoustic tiles and acoustic insulation and a solid three-foot door to isolate the sound coming from the basement home theater.
